WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – There”s nothing like going back in time and watching those old tapes of birthday parties, weddings or good times spent with friends and family.

But with the way technology advances, many people can no longer watch their memories.

Candy Stephenson had a problem with her own old tapes. They got mildew on them and she wanted to preserve them before it was too late.

She didn”t find affordable or local service, so she started her own company, called Digitizing Memories.

Stephenson can now take things such as VHS tapes, mini-DVDs, old slides, negatives, and old photographs and put everything on DVDs. It”s also a great way to preserve memories from tapes that are going blank, becoming brittle or breaking.

Stephenson said she”s had people come in with all kinds of great ideas for how to use the DVDs, including high school reunions, mother”s day gifts, birthday gifts and so on.

“I had a lady bring stuff in just before Christmas, those were the videos the kids were going to watch on the trip so it”s really exciting, they love it and the responses I get for it are just the fun of being able to see something that they had literally not seen for years,” said said.

Stephenson said she strives to make the process affordable because she knows it can quickly add up.

Price List:

Digitize photos (up to 8×10), slides:

29 cents each

Videos:

0 to 30 minutes = $7.50 each

30 minutes to 1 hour = $9.50 each

1 to 2 hours = $13.50 each

If you have something that needs digitizing but you don”t see it on the list, Stephenson said don”t hesitate to call with any questions at 910-200-4833 or check out her web site here.
